I just watched Super Soul Sunday featuring Howard Schultz, former Starbucks CEO.
Like him, I want to be a great leader. I don’t want to sacrifice my values for profit. I want to be authentic and transparent. I want to lead with power and purpose.
I want to change the world.
When I hear about people who are focused primarily on sustainability and progress, integrity, and making sure everyone receives the support they need, I get super excited! It’s a welcome shift from our cultural fixation on money and profit.
My world is not about one who rules them all. It’s about waking up to the awareness that we are all in this together.
As Jean Houston said: “The times of great change and remarkable opportunity are upon us. To succeed we can no longer go it alone, but must partner with one another to share innovative and creative ways in which to rethink and restructure our individual existence within the context of our expanding global communities.”
She also spoke of “the restoration of the biosphere, the regenesis of society and … a new type of culture, the culture of kindness.”
I believe that once we realize we are not separate—from anything or anyone—our new understanding will transform everything.
That’s why my business is all about integrity, authenticity, transparency, love and connection … money as a vehicle for integrity, authenticity, transparency, love and connection.
I admit it’s not always easy. Awhile back, I felt like I was losing my way. I started to be the “what’s in it for me” kind of person.
Once I realized what was happening, though, I recommitted to my core values. Now, each word and each action I take is about inclusiveness, restoration, connection.
Like I said, I want to change the world.
How about you?
